Thought of the Week - Controlling Emotions

Theme: Controlling emotions

“If you don’t think your anxiety, depression, sadness and stress impact your physical health, think again. All of these emotions trigger chemical reactions in your body, which can lead to inflammation and a weakened immune system. Learn how to cope, sweet friend. There will always be dark days.”

They say that some people wear their heart on their sleeve which means their emotions are always at the front of their thinking. For some of us it is difficult to recognise different emotions or even describe how we are feeling.  When it all gets a bit too much it can mean we might have an angry/upset outburst.

  • What makes you angry/anxious/happy?
  • When you get angry/anxious/happy, what are the physical changes you notice? Are there any psychological changes?
  • In pairs come up with calming down techniques for when emotions get too much. Think about 2 or 3 things you could give as advice to someone who was struggling to deal with their emotions.
