We are now in the season of Lent, 40 days (with Sundays off!). It’s a time when Christians prepare to celebrate Easter by extra self-denial for the six weeks before Good Friday. So some people might give up chocolate, or sweets, or swearing. One year I gave up buying clothes during that time – that was hard.
Other people try and take on something new; it could be simple like making sure they smile at someone every day, eating an extra piece of fruit or a bigger change like starting to volunteer at a charity. Even if you are not Christian it can be helpful to take a break from bad habits or start new habits and it’s been found that 40 days is a good time to make the change stick. So what are you going you take on or give up for 40 days?
