This week in Reception, our families at home have been busy making some AMAZING bird feeders!
The children have been doing some research into what birds like to eat, and the different ways to make a bird feeder with household items. The children have put their bird feeders outside and have been watching carefully to see if any birds have come to feed from them, with varied amounts of success (we’ve even had a report of one being stolen by a cheeky cat!)
So far, we have had reports of seeing blackbirds, robins, magpies, wagtails, starlings, long tailed tits and sparrows – what a variety of birds we have in our gardens! We have also had some people being able to hear some birds, if not see them! Some of the children have been using the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch materials to help them identify the birds they have seen.
Perhaps you might be inspired to make your own bird feeders at home? If you would like any more information on the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, it can be found here … https://www.rspb.org.uk/get-involved/activities/birdwatch/
