Reception News 29.4.19
Welcome back everybody, hope you had a lovely Easter break. It feels impossible to believe that your children are now in their final term of Reception. Our latest data analysis has shown that the children have made some fantastic progress since joining us in September, they should be very proud of their hard work. Our first couple of weeks back will focus on our new Literacy text “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” – an old favourite with a lot of opportunities for learning. We will be finding out about caterpillars and other mini beasts, alongside lots of opportunities to develop our garden area.
The children in Reception have come back to school looking really smart this week so thank you for your support. May I remind you that all our uniform items are now available to buy or order online from Honiton Sports shop.
I know we all got very excited at the end of the Easter holidays and then summer disappeared again, but please be prepared for a change in weather. We will continue to be learning outside as the weather gets warmer – PLEASE CAN YOU ENSURE YOU PROVIDE YOUR CHILD WITH A NAMED SUNHAT AND A BOTTLE OF NAMED SUN CREAM. We have a form for you to sign to give us permission to apply the sun cream, although we will encourage the children to be as independent as possible doing this . It is most helpful if you can provide cream which can be left in school so we can store it centrally. We recommend factor 30, and the cheaper brands from supermarket have been proven to be just as effective as the more expensive named brands.
Friday afternoon drop ins
We will be holding Friday afternoon drop ins for parents every week from now on, when we invite you to join us from 2.45 pm to work alongside your child in school. This Friday we will be having a reading session, where you will have an opportunity to share your child’s reading book and phonics book. Please come to the outdoor side gate as normal when a member of staff will let you in. These drop ins are optional and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible!
Thank you as always, for your continued support. Do not hesitate to contact me or one of the team if you have any questions or concerns. Have a lovely week.
