Reception Weekly News - 08/02/2019

Dear parents/carers,

The children have become very excited about their learning this week, using the story “Bedtime for monsters” as a prompt to find out more about aliens, space etc. Next week we will be using our maths monsters to help us to order numbers, add two numbers together and take a number away from a larger number. In literacy we will be creating story maps and in our creative area we will be exploring different textures as we create space and planet artwork.

Thank you so much for your contributions to our first home learning task – we have been amazed by the lovely research the children have done and the enthusiasm of the children. The finished products are truly “out of this world!” and they were very proud to show them off in assembly this morning.

Reception Garden

Well, my plan to transform the Nursery garden this week didn’t quite go to plan, due to the bad weather. We are still waiting to prepare the soil and plant all the new shrubs and plants, so I am going to try again next week – I will be digging over the garden in preparation on FRIDAY between 3.15 and 4pm – if anybody would like to bring a spade to help me you will be very welcome!

Keeping Healthy

In addition to the unpleasant bugs currently doing the rounds, chicken pox has decide to join us too! Obviously, at this time of year everybody is more susceptible to illness and it is especially important to reduce the spread of infection. If you think your child is unwell, please do not bring them in – they need to be wrapped up warm and resting until they are better.

Celebration of Learning

We would like to invite you all in to the Reception Bases on Friday next week (15th February) at 3pm, to have a look at the fantastic home learning about space, the work we have been doing in class and to share your child’s learning journey with them.

Reminder

Next week is the last week of this half term, and we break up on Friday for a week’s holiday. We return to school on Monday 25th February.

Thank you for your continued support. Please remember that we are always available at the beginning and end of the day if you have any questions or concerns, or you can make an appointment to see me.

Have a lovely weekend,

Julie Simpson
