Reception Weekly News - 07/12/2018

Dear parents/carers,

Apologies for much of the information being repeated from last week in this letter, but Christmas is so busy and there is so much to remember! So here it all is again…….

CHRISTMAS EVENTS AND DETAILS

Friday 7th December – TODAY – School Christmas fayre.

The Christmas Fayre runs in the main atrium of the school between 4pm and 6pm. Our Reception children are making gifts “Handmade at Christmas” and Mrs Cromwell and Mrs Goode will be running a stall to sell them. With the added bonus of Mr Pratt and Mrs Simpson dressing up for the occasion, this is not to be missed!

Monday 10th December (2.15pm) and Tuesday 11th December (9.30am) Reception classes Nativity Play “Whoops-a-daisy Angel.”

Thank you so much for the wonderful costumes you have provided your children – they are so excited and this is a really special time for them, and having a costume makes it even more special. We really appreciate the effort you have made.

We HAVE 21 TICKETS AVAILABLE ACROSS HE 2 DAYS _ FIRST COME FIRST SERVED> Please go to the main office if you are interested in extra tickets.

Photographs and Videos – several people have asked about taking photographs during the performance. As you are probably aware, there have been huge changes in Data Protection this year. Because of this, please read the following guidelines-

  • You are very welcome to take photographs/a video of the production for private use, however…..
  • Photographs and videos must not be shared on social media or in any public domain if they include another person other than your child, therefore no group photos
  • If you want to put a photograph on social media, there must be no child in it other than yours unless you have permission from the child’s parent/carer
  • We ask you not to use a flash during the performance as this may upset some of the children or put them off! There will be photo opportunities at the end.
  • We will be taking photographs of each individual child in their costume before the performance, and you will receive a copy of this.

Friday 14th December – Save the Children National Christmas Jumper Day

  • Non uniform day where we invite all children and adults to wear a Christmas Jumper to school. This is a national fundraising event for Save the Children, and the suggested donation is £1 per child.

Monday 17th December (pm) Christmas craft afternoon

  • We would like to invite you to come and join your child in our Reception bases for an afternoon of creative Christmas activities. The afternoon will start at 1.30 pm, please come to the main black gates into the playground where somebody will let you in.

Thursday 20th December 9.15 am – end of term Early Years/Primary carol service

  • Main hall, 9.10 am – this will replace our normal Friday morning Primary assembly. All children, including Nursery, will attend. Please come along and join our festive end of term singalong!

Thursday 20th December (pm) Reception pyjama snuggle party

  • To end our busy term, the children in Reception will have a snuggle party on the last afternoon. Please can your child bring some Pyjamas or onesie, slippers if they have them and a cuddly toy. We will provide them with hot chocolate and cookies and we will enjoy festive Christmas films together.

Term ends at 3.15 on Thursday 20th December, and we return to school on Tuesday 8th January.

On another note completely and nothing to do with Christmas, please can your child bring in any recycling materials for junk modelling next week. We are going to need lots!

Thank you for your continued support, please remember if you have any questions or concerns we are always available at the beginning and end of the day, or you can arrange an appointment to come and see me.

Have a lovely weekend

Julie Simpson (EYFS Lead)
