Reception News - 28/09/2018

Dear parents/carers,

We have had a busy week preparing for our Bear Hunt presentation this week – hope you enjoy it if you can come this afternoon! The children continue to be excited by their learning about “Going on a Bear Hunt” and have produced some lovely story maps to help retell the story. I have been very impressed with your children’s learning – seeing the phonics coming together and lots of children feeling confident enough to write some of the letter sounds they are learning. Don’t forget to check in your child’s Phonics Book every Friday for the new sounds/words learned that week.

Phonics Workshop for parents

Many apologies for having to postpone the phonics workshop last week. Several parents have shown interest in having an out of school hours workshop as well, so I intend to now run 2 workshops – one at 2.30pm and one at 5pm. Date to be confirmed early next week.

Fire Drill

You may have heard from your child that we had a fire drill at school yesterday. All the children were brilliant, lining up quickly and walking into the playground to be counted with no fuss at all (although a couple of children were a bit put out that they had to leave their half-eaten snack behind!) Hopefully your child was not anxious about this – obviously we need to do this regularly to help keep our children safe.

Christmas cards

I know it is not yet October, but this week your child has been given the chance to design a Christmas picture which can be made in to a Christmas card. Today every child will be bringing home their picture along with an order form for you to return to school to order cards and other merchandise using their picture. Please follow the instructions on the form. Unfortunately there is a very quick turnaround and the orders have to be returned by THURSDAY OCTOBER 4th to enable the printers to make the cards in time for Christmas.

Colder weather

The weather forecast is due to change over the weekend and start to feel more Autumnal – please can you ensure your child has a named coat in Nursery every day, and wellies to play outside in the digging area/mud kitchen.

Have a lovely weekend, and enjoy the last of this beautiful weather!

Thank you for your continued support.
