Post-16 Applications to Exeter College

Post-16 applications are now open for most providers and we know that Exeter College will be a top choice for many of our current Year 11s. Please see the information provided from Exeter College below for some important information and updates about their application process (including some top tips for interviews):

Applications
Applications for 2021 entry are open. We encourage students to apply around this time of year to secure an early interview and their place at college. Students can apply online here: https://apply.exe-coll.ac.uk/. The College Advice Team are offering individual advice and guidance appointments to any Year 11 students who have not yet decided on their course. We can arrange video appointments via Microsoft Teams during the school day. To request appointments please contact your college adviser or email cat@exe-coll.ac.uk.

Top Tips for Interviews
Interviews will be taking place virtually through Microsoft Teams and students will be notified of their appointment date and time by email. (They can click on the link found in the email to join the meeting). If any students who applied before Christmas haven’t heard regarding an interview yet please advise them not to worry. Our admissions team are amending our processes and will begin scheduling again soon. They should receive notification of their interview date within the next few weeks. If students do not have internet access, a telephone interview can be requested. Interviews will be taking place regularly until the summer holidays, however, we encourage students to apply sooner than this.

Virtual Exeter College Experience – 19th January 5-7pm
We have continued to develop resources for our virtual Exeter College Experience webpage, including video introductions to faculty areas from our faculty heads, subject specific videos, and a new virtual walking tour of the city centre sites. These resources can be accessed at any time here: https://exe-coll.ac.uk/virtual-exeter-college-experience-school-leavers/.

Our next live virtual open event is on 19th January. During the live event students can access video Q&A sessions with our subject specialists, and webchat from our support services and teaching staff. To make the most of these events we are advising students to make use of the available resources beforehand and come prepared with questions to ask. We are adding new resources all the time in preparation for our next live event, so please encourage students to check back for updates. Registration for the live event is open now.

Virtual Tour
We know how important it is for students to see where they are choosing to study. While we can’t welcome students in person, the college advice team have developed a new video walking tour of our city centre sites. Apprenticeships – 7 steps to success
Our Apprenticeship Team has developed a new 7 steps to success programme to support prospective students with their preparation for beginning an apprenticeship course in 2021.

The programme is designed to give apprenticeship candidates a full understanding of what Apprenticeships are and what it takes to get one, and to engage with the Apprenticeship Team for support at crucial stages throughout the year. All apprenticeship candidates who successfully complete the programme will receive an Exeter College Apprenticeship certificate, which they can subsequently present to an employer to show their dedication and determination to becoming an Apprentice. The attached flyer gives an overview of the 7 key steps to securing an apprenticeship. Please do feel free to share this with any interested students and/or year 11 tutors so that they can pass the information on.

If any of students are interested in taking part, please email Morven Maclean:morvenmaclean@exe-coll.ac.uk, call 01392 400800 or click here for further information about the support on offer for applicants.
