Thank you to all of you who have been passing on your good wishes to Mrs Clements – we are very pleased to say that, all being well, Mrs Clements will be back with us next week. Once again I would like to express my thanks to Jill Wolsey who has been a fantastic member of our team in her absence.
In Red and Yellow bases, the children have absolutely loved learning about our new book character Maisy, as part of our learning about special times and celebrations. We will continue to use this book as our focus next week and will be finding out about how to organise a birthday party. There is a rumour that the children have received a very special invitation today at nursery and may even get to take part in preparing for Maisy’s celebrations next week!
Alongside this, we continue to look at the changes occurring as we head straight into autumn now – please continue to bring in special autumn items which you may find when you are out and about on your travels, and talk to your child about the changes they notice in the weather, on the trees etc.
The children in Blue base have also been discovering the changes taking place in autumn – I hope you loved the autumn crowns they made this week! Keep watch for the new autumn display which is developing in Blue base.
After half term I will be starting a series of parent/carer workshops to demonstrate the different aspects of learning we cover in Nursery, and how we approach this. Our first workshop will look at how we teach the early stages of phonics, through active games, songs and practical resources. There will be opportunity for you to help make some resources for us to share with our nursery children too! The date of this meeting is Monday 12th November – there will be a choice of two meetings, one at 2.15pm and one at 6pm. The meetings will last for approximately 40 minutes, and are aimed at parents/carers from all our Nursery age groups.. Nearer the time there will be a list to sign up for these on our outside notice boards.
Can you help?
We are looking for donations of unwanted curtains and duvet covers (single or doube) to help us with our outdoor den building, and also plain white sheets for the children to paint on. If you have any, please can you bring them in to Nursery.
A reminder to all that we break up for a week’s half term holiday on Friday 19th October, and return to Nursery on Monday 29th October.
Thank you for your continued support. Please remember that we are always available at the beginning and end of the day if you have any questions or concerns, or you can make an appointment to see me.
Have a lovely weekend,
Julie Simpson EYFS LEAD
