Mountain Bike Gears Award

Mountain Bike Gears Award

Dear parent/carer,

An opportunity has arisen for 8 students to take part in a mountain bike ‘GEARS award’.  Back in March Tom Howe from Adventurecise offered a taster session to 12 students in years 7 and 8 from CEC as part of The Big Pedal.  As there was lots of enthusiasm, a programme of 3 sessions has been set up. Three places have been taken with full payments received.

In September Tom Howe will deliver GEAR 1, 2 and 3 covering 10 hours of mountain bike coaching.  The Gears award is the equivalent of ‘Bikeability’, but on mountain bikes.  Bikes will be provided for the duration of this course, but if you wish to ride your own bike, this can be arranged.

Friday 15th September – based at CEC

Friday 22nd September – based at either Ashclyst, Killerton, Woodbury

Friday 29th September – based at a local trail centre/Dartmoor

The cost of this course will be £45 per student (which equates to under £5 per hour) This cost has been subsidised by Sustrans and is a great opportunity to get your child trained up on their mountain bike, ready to cycle to school and beyond!

Many Thanks

Charlotte Stokes
