The sun is shining, so it must be nearly half term! This half term has flown by and I want to thank you for your continued support. Although it has been a short half term, we have still been very busy. Some of the exciting opportunities on offer have included a Taiko drumming workshop from Kagemusha; planting native species in Eco/Science Club; students participating in sessions from Lloyds Bank about financial awareness; a trip to the Devon County Show and visiting Haven banks for an afternoon of kayaking. Year 8 students have also chosen their GCSE options which is a very exciting stage in their Cranbrook journey.
You can find out more about what we have been up to on our website at: https://www.cranbrookeducationcampus.org.uk/news/ and via our social media feeds on Facebook (www.facebook.com/cranbrookeducation/) and Twitter (www.twitter.com/CranbrookEC).
Teachers have been busy assessing students ready for their next reports, which will be sent out to you the week beginning 19th June. Students will then have their end of year exams during the week beginning 26th June. These exams will be taken in the sports hall, with the aim being to replicate real exams as much as possible. I have sent a separate message to you all outlining the exams times and suggested revision techniques.
Students have achieved a combined total of nearly 30,000 merits since September, demonstrating their positive behaviour for learning. You can see their behaviour data via ClassCharts and you will also be able to see it via the GroupCall Xpressions app. Please contact the secondary office on firstname.lastname@example.org if you are having any issues with ClassCharts or Xpressions.
At 95% our attendance is good, but it could be better! Our aim is for 100%. If your child is unwell then you need to call the Campus and inform us first thing in the morning. All absences will be logged as unauthorised until you contact us.
Can I also remind you of our Uniform expectations, which can be found at: https://www.cranbrookeducationcampus.org.uk/our-campus/secondary/uniform/? Only one pair of stud earrings and a watch can be worn as jewellery; no other piercings are allowed. All jewellery must be removed for PE lessons.
We always welcome your feedback on how we can improve further as a Campus and you can send your suggestions to us at email@example.com or you can give your feedback via Ofsted’s ParentView (https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/) at any time.
I would like to give our huge thanks to the Cranbrook PTA, for raising nearly £90 during their recent cake sale. The next cake sale will take place at the end of the day on Friday 9th June. The PTA is also be organising a ‘Race for Life’ on Friday 16th June at 2pm and selling refreshments at Sports Day on Tuesday 18th July. They will send out more details about these events nearer the time. The group is always looking for new members and you can email them on firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more.
I hope you all have a lovely half term break and that the weather stays good. Attached are the future dates for your diaries and other key information.
We look forward to welcoming students back at 08.35 on Monday 5th June.
Mr S Farmer
