Our Year Two children had hoped to find an Ichthyosaur head: but amongst slim pickings on the beach, we settled for some rare pyrite (golden) ammonites and pocketfuls of other fossils.
In the Lyme Regis Museum, we discovered some of the objects we have been exploring since January. We could see how fossil finding involves solving a puzzle, and felt slightly scared by a model of Mary Anning’s fish lizard fossilised skull!
The Museum Director seemed most impressed by our children’s knowledge and understanding, and our fossil guide commented on how engaging, curious and lovely our children are. They were a real credit to the school and community, and we had the most wonderful day. We can’t wait to go out again!
