It’s Winter! – Not the most inspiring time to get out into your nearest green space – or is it??
Winter provides us with some unexpected pleasures and opportunities. As the trees have lost their leaves for the winter, it is much easier for us to spot who lives in them. Take a walk through Cranbrook’s country park and see how many different birds you can spot and listen to how many you can hear.
As you walk the paths in the country park, take a look for signs of footprints in the mud, can you spot any unusual ones?
Winter often means rain – but this doesn’t have to stop the fun! Have you ever had a run around in the rain…it’s brilliant fun! Grab a waterproof coat and some wellies, and find some muddy puddles to splash in.
Although winter is cold, this can mean clear skies at night. As it is dark so early, you can get a night walk in before bed time. So wrap up warm, grab a torch and take a night walk. How many stars can you see…? What wildlife uses the country park at night..?
Lots of migratory birds come to the UK for a milder winter. Why not pop over to the reserve at Seaton Wetlands, bring your bike or scooter to use the reserve’s cycle track to get between the lookout towers.
