Early Years News 22.11.19

First of all, apologies for the recent lack of Newsletters, I have been absent from school for the past three weeks. Now fully recovered and raring to go, I am looking forward to what looks like a busy end of term – and of course very soon the preparations for Christmas in school will be underway Next week’s newsletter will be purely about our Christmas arrangements in Early Years, so watch this space for details, dates and times.

From now on, our Nursery and Reception Newsletters will be combined into one Early Years news, which will give you the opportunity to find out what is going on across the whole phase.

Home Learning

Blue Base have sent out their first Home Learning task this week all about families. Please can this be returned by the end of this term so Blue Base can make a display which the children can talk about together. Home Learning for Red and Yellow Bases and our three Reception classes will be sent out by the end of next week.

Starting school

All parents of children in Red and Yellow Base will have received information about how to enrol your child for school ready for September 2020. The online portal is now open and will be until 15th January. Please check the poster on the Nursery information board if you are unsure.

Our open afternoon/evening is next week (Thursday 28th at 2.15 and 6.15 pm) Please come along if you are considering the campus for your child’s Reception place in September 2020.

Everywhere Bear – Reception

Our 3 Reception Bases have introduced a teddy bear -Everywhere Bear- who will be coming home with a different child every few days with a lovely library book to share. We are introducing this as one of the ways we are trying to promote a love of reading for all of our children. Further details of how this works will be sent home with the bear. Happy reading!

Packed Lunches

We try our best to be a healthy school as part of a healthy town and therefore would like to encourage everybody to consider a balanced packed lunch for your children. Whilst it is great to have a treat such as crisps, a piece of cake or a chocolate biscuit as part of the lunch (I certainly do!) may I remind you all that sweets and fizzy drinks are not permitted in school even as part of a lunch. Many thanks for your co-operation with this.

Nursery administration/emails

Please accept our apologies if you have emailed our nursery regarding changes to hours etc. and have not yet received a reply. Our Nursery administrator is working exceptionally hard at present to negotiate an unusual demand for session changes and extra sessions – this is not a straightforward process as we have to carefully consider forward planning to ensure we don’t overbook. I didn’t help by not being here to answer her queries either – so please bear with us as we get up to speed as soon as we can. We will endeavour to reply to all the outstanding emails during the Nursery admin hours next week.

Parents evening

Many thanks for all of you who gave up your time to attend our parents evening this week – I hope you found it informative and had an opportunity to learn more about how your child is getting on. I would also like to say a huge thank you to the Early Years team for staying late and working so hard to make the evenings such a success.

Reception Nativity

Parents in Reception will have received information this week about the Nativity and the role of each child. Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask your child’s teacher. On Monday you will receive a letter about how and when you can get tickets for this showstopper!

Have a lovely weekend and thank you for all your support– don’t forget to look at our noticeboards outside the Nursery and Reception Bases for important information every day.

Kind regards

Julie Simpson
