Early Years Funding – Extended Entitlement (30 hours) Dear Parents extended funding
From September 2017, some changes will be taking place to the Government’s Early Years Funding scheme.
All children aged 3 and 4 years will continue to be entitled to 15 hours weekly, during term time – this is known as ‘Universal Funding’.
In addition, eligible children will now be able to claim an extra 15 hours per week to be known as the ‘Extended entitlement’. These children will receive 30 hours per week free childcare.
How do I know if I am eligible for Extended entitlement?
Information about the scheme and criteria for eligibility can be found online at:
You can check your eligibility here:
If you have problems accessing the system or completing your check please call the HMRC Customer Interaction Centre on 0300 1234 097
How do I apply?
If you are only entitled to, or only want, the 15 hours free Universal Funding, you need to do nothing. This will be allocated to your child automatically the term after their 3rd birthday.
If you think you are eligible for the extended (30 hours) entitlement, you need to apply via the digital childcare service by following either of these links:
If you are eligible, you will be issued with an 11 digit ‘eligibility’ code which you need to give to our Nursery and any other provider in order for us to claim your funding. We are required to use the code to check eligibility and to submit funding claims throughout the year.
Early years providers do not have to offer the extended hours or can choose only to offer a limited number of additional hours per week. Unfortunately, as there are a limited number of places in our Nursery, we will need to offer these extra hours on a first come first served basis, and may not be able to offer the full 30 hours to all. We may be able to offer you part of the 30 hours in our wrap around before and after school care if required (7.30-9 and 3-6)
Please make your application as soon as possible as outlined above and bring your eligibility code into our main reception area at Cranbrook Education Campus.
Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
