Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

After an 18 month delay to all training due to Covid-19, it was a real pleasure to be take some of our Year 9 pupils out for the first training walk for the Expedition Section of their Bronze DofE. Fifteen of our pupils completed a 5km walk on Woodbury Common after school on Wednesday last week where they learnt the basics of map reading and compass skills in preparation for their Assessed Expeditions in October. All the pupils completed the walk in high spirits and were a real credit to the Campus. Our next training walk is next week when they’ll be walking a route that they’ve planned themselves! Special thanks to Mr Milverton, Mrs Adams and Mr Chivers who accompanied the pupils, and Mr Pepperell for his base-at-base support.

Please remember that we will launch the new intake of Bronze DofE awards to our new Year 9 pupils in September 2021, so any Year 8 pupils who think they might be interested make sure you sign up after the holidays.
