Charlotte from Sustrans organised for Tom Howe from Adventurecise to come along to Cranbrook to take part in a mountain bike skills session after school for year 7 and 8 students.
Students were given the opportunity to ride their own BMX’s or Mountain Bikes or borrow a bike from one of Tom’s selection. The hour session took place after school on the field with plenty of space to practice basic bike handling skills in preparation for off road riding. Ramps were impressively rolled and jumped over along with basic cornering around cones.
The session has been a taster for the Gears Award which allows progression in mountain bike skills.
The course covers:
Brakes, Gear Changing , Cornering, Alternating speed, Lifting front wheel, Bunny hops, Bike anatomy, Tools and repairs
